Roy Arroyo began his educational career as an Elementary School teacher. Since 1989, he has been a professional naturalist guide, a manager of a mountain lodge, a naturalist, and a Customer Service and Recreational Activities Manager & Coordinator. He has worked in hotels such as Gavilan Lodge, La Amistad Lodge, Hotel Punta Leona, Bosque de Paz and Hotel Villa Lapas; Biological Reserves such as La Selva Biological Station, the Wilson Botanical Garden, Bosque de Paz and Carara National Park. He has worked on projects of Certification of ICT Sustainability in Punta Leona and Villa Lapas and recently submitted a proposal for the CST to Macaw Lodge. He has been a Guide and Manager of Operations and Customer Service for travel companies such as JDs Water Sport, Ecoteach, BioCursos of the Organization for Tropical Studies, Education First, Horizontes Travel Agency, Swiss Travel, Costa Rica Temptation, Aerial Tram Pacific, and Tropical Rainbow. He is also a lecturer for the Scholar, Wonder and Birding groups of Best Adventures Travel and Interpreter of Vida Foundation.

 Since 2004 he has been involved in community activities. His leadership and experience in the development of programs and projects covers many fields. For example, he is currently president of LAPPA (Scarlet Macaw Conservation League), an organization in charge of the protection and population monitoring of Scarlet Macaws in the Central Pacific of Costa Rica. Also, in the last six years, he has participated as Vice President of the Management Board of the Quebrada Ganado High School, Coordinator of the Municipality of Garabito Band Project, member of the Committee of Culture of the Municipality of Garabito, Councilman for District Garabito (2006 to 2010), Member of the School of Orotina Musical Arts, Representative for the Municipality of Garabito in the negotiations of the Draft Responsible, Tárcoles Region Committee Chair and Local Emergency Fisherman at Playa Azul. He has extensive experience in customer service and tour operations, tourist transport, natural history, politics of Costa Rica, Costa Rican history and geography of Costa Rica.
