Growing up in Hawaii, Nora has enjoyed scuba diving, tide-pooling, kayaking and exploring Kona reefs from a very early age.  She knew since she was very young that she wanted to study the ocean in college. Nora graduated in June 2018 from University of California, Santa Barbara with a degree in Aquatic Biology B.S.  Each year in college she incorporated more of her passion for marine science with the research and education UCSB offers.  Not only was she the Lead Aquarist at the Research Experience and Education Facility (REEF), but she was also involved with UCSB Adventure Programs as a trip leader, kayak guide, rock wall staff, and Ropes Course facilitator and coordinator and worked in various marine research labs.  She also work with UCSB Aquatics as a swim instructor and a maintenance scuba diver where she incorporated her love for scuba diving, love for children, and love for teaching all in one.

Nora currently works with Truth Aquatics in Santa Barbara Harbor, which she believes is the best of both worlds.  Each year she can’t wait to bring the students on the Channel Islands Marine Program trip out on the boat she lives on for work and show them the places she gets to explore all year round.  Nora has been involved with the Scholastic Expeditions Channel Islands Marine program for several years and she says the best part of the trip is the curiosity and enthusiasm the students come with and the passion and excitement they leave with.  She invites anyone with a similar passion and curiosity to come explore the underwater world with her!
