Join for a Scientific Adventure in Costa Rica!


9 Days / 8 Nights



Start off your journey with a day at the Arenal Volcano and La Fortuna Waterfalls. Students will visit the Monteverde Frog Pond and Butterfly Garden to study the unique biology of cloud forest creatures. A visit to an animal wildlife rescue center and later the Las Pumas rescue facility will expose students to the different stages of rehabilitation animals go through to be reintroduced back into the wild.


Throughout the trip students will compare water and soil samples taken at various locations and evaluate the health of various habitats. Bird watch at the Palo Verde National Park’s ranger station where numerous research projects are taking place. For your grand finale enjoy learning to surf at the exquisite Tamarindo beaches.

Curriculum & Trip Highlights:

  • Community service at a Wildlife Rescue Center, a haven for wild rescued animals
  • Volunteer on an ECO-FARM and learn about sustainable farming
  • Community service at a rural elementary school > learn, play and share with local children
  • Explore the Venado Caves and learn about their geology, the cave system, biology of bats and insects
  • Hike the beautiful Fortuna Waterfall and swim in a natural river pool
  • Spend an evening relaxing in the natural hot springs of the volcanic region
  • White water raft throughout several different ecosystems
  • Explore Lake Arenal by kayak 
  • In Monteverde, visit a frog and snake menagerie and study many unique species of frogs. 
  • Zip line through the Monteverde cloud forest canopy
  • Spend an afternoon at the Butterfly Garden; learn about different species and their amazing biology
  • Rio Bebedero Birding Experience; the best bird watching spots
  • Compare water and soil samples taken at various location throughout your trip
  • Visit Las Pumas, non-profit animal rescue/rehabilitation center
  • Learn about the different stages of rehabilitation animals go through to be reintroduced back into the wild
  • At the Palo Verde National Park become part of an on-going study, run by biologists and university students.
  • SURF LESSONS! Learn how to 'hang 10' on the beautiful beaches of Tamarindo with expert instructors
