Experience Cuba NOW!  Join us as we travel from San Francisco International Airport to Havana, Cuba on a People to People educational tour (legally licensed travel for US citizens).  You’ll spend 9 days immersed in the rich culture of this fascinating and gorgeous country. Throughout the program you’ll be staying with Cuban families at “Casa Particulares” for a more enriching cultural experience.  In addition to 3 full days spent exploring the Cuban capital of Havana, you’ll also visit the magnificent Vinales Valley, and soak up the old world charm of Cienfuegos and Trinidad.   

 

Among the many activities: visit art and historical museums, check out an eco-farm, see sugar and rum production up close and experience a famous Cuban cigar factory. Learn from artists, academics and musicians throughout the trip. Don't forget about learning to dance salsa and mambo! This program has been developed to be interdisciplinary, bringing together the culture, history and ecology of this complex and beautiful country. Curriculum and Trip Highlights:
  • Walking tour of old Havana including visiting breathtaking churches, forts, artists galleries, and more
  • Visit to Fusterville neighborhood, home of Caribbean renown tile artist Jose Fuster
  • Visit to local art studio and lithography studio
  • Tour Havana Club Rum Factory
  • Evening visit of famous Canon Ceremony
  • Explore beautiful Vinales and amazing mountainous region
  • Visit a privately owned tobacco farm
  • Painted cave boat ride
  • Full day of Havana cultural sight seeing      
  • Visit Revolution Square
  • Tour the fishing village of Cojimar, where Ernest Hemingway wrote Old Man and the Sea
  • Visit a Cigar factory
  • Free day!  (Private transportation available all day)
  • Special dinner provided at 5 star restaurant El Littoral, one of the nicest restaurants in Havana
  • City tour of Cienfuegos, called the "Pearl of Cuba" and a World Heritage Site
  • Explore the small town of Santa Clara including the Che Guevara Memorial
  • Visit to the Sugar Train museum including a ride on the famous train
  • Excursion to historic town of Trinidad - cultural sight seeing
  • Enjoy a day at the breathtaking Varadero beach
  • Perhaps finish your day with a snorkle & catamaran cruise.

Our November Adult program participants will take some additional supplies to assist the Cuban people with their recovery and know that the dollars we spend in the beautiful country of Cuba goes directly to the support of it's people. Additional Travel Protection:

 

Scholastic Expeditions provides basic medical, dental and accidental insurance at no cost to the traveller. Travelers can however purchase additional travel protection.
